Warning Description: Special Statement
Warning Date: 3:56 PM CST on January 27, 2012
WarningSum:...Light Snow Accumulations Expected Across Parts Of The Area Tonight...
Warning Message:A fast moving weather system will track across the area tonight
bringing accumulating snow to portions of the area. The precipitation
may begin as rain before changing to a rain and snow mix...and
then eventually changing to all snow. The quickest changeover to
all snow should occur across northeast Missouri and west central
Illinois where snow accumulations of up to 2 inches are possible.
Further south along the Interstate 70 corridor from Columbia to St
Louis to Vandalia...this transition from rain to snow will be slower
and occur as the evening progresses. Total snow accumulations
within this area should be an inch or less.
Most of the snowfall accumulation should be confined to grassy
surfaces...but untreated roads could become snow covered once the
temperature lowers to freezing. Motorists should be aware while
traveling tonight and be prepared for adverse driving conditions
if the roads become snow covered.
